Whitney Whealdon is the Director of Learning Innovation at Learning Tapestry. She has worked in education for over 20 years, including 6 years teaching English language arts, 10 years in educational administration, and 4 years in educational technology.

Whitney began her career as a middle school English Language Arts teacher in St. Francisville, Louisiana. In 2005, she received the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Program award and visited schools and learned about the educational system in Japan and then brought those experiences back to her classroom. In 2008, she was named the 2008 Louisiana Middle School Teacher of the Year.

Prior to joining Learning Tapestry, Whitney spent over ten years working at the Louisiana Department of Education, including serving as the English Language Arts Assessment Coordinator, Director of Academic Content, and leading the creation of the ELA Guidebooks, an English language arts curriculum used in over 80% of Louisiana districts and used in other states nationwide.

At Learning Tapestry, Whitney consults with curriculum clients to support them in customizing and using the Learning Content Management System to build curriculum digitally. She also helps clients improve how users experience their products and supports clients in developing strategy for authoring and implementing curriculum and other digital education products.

Whitney holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Master of Secondary Education from the Holmes Program at Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!) and currently lives on Lake D'Arbonne in North Louisiana.
